A symbol of equality and innovation

Since the introduction of the “equalitA” seal of approval in 2020, companies and organisations that actively promote gender equality and women's careers have been recognised. “With this award, we are supporting professional equality for both genders in the workplace and beyond,” emphasised Secretary General Landrichtinger at the award ceremony. Minister Kocher added that this recognition sends a positive signal for a gender-equitable working environment and enhances Austria's reputation as a business location.

Insights into the projects

In addition to awarding the seal of approval, the most innovative measures are honored once a year. These reflect the diversity and creativity with which companies contribute to gender equality. This year's six projects are:

  • Eaton Industries has launched “FEM4GC-Sustainability,” a sustainable project that promotes women in the technology industry.
  • RAG Austria's “RAG Family Initiative” focuses on work-life balance and creates family-friendly working conditions.
  • NXP Semiconductors Austria's “E-WIN” offers a network and mentoring for women in the company to actively promote their careers.
  • MP2 IT-Solutions' “WOMENinICT Breakfast Salon” serves as a platform for exchange and networking among women in the IT industry. Katharina Kloiber, one of the dedicated ambassadors of the WOMENinICT program and innovation manager and authorised signatory at X-Net, plays a central role in supporting and inspiring women in IT.
  • Energie Steiermark's “zukunftsinitiativ.E.frauen” is an innovative program to support women in technical and leadership positions.
  • she:works has developed a project called the “Ambassador Concept” that encourages women to act as role models and mentors in their industries.

The importance of gender equality measures

Equality measures in the labor market and education are crucial for reducing gender-specific disadvantages and better promoting and utilsiing existing talent. Women in leadership positions have been shown to have a positive influence on corporate performance, corporate culture, and crisis resilience. Diversity leads to greater competitiveness and increases the attractiveness of Austria as a business location.

Conclusion

The awarding of the “equalitA 2024” seal of approval shows that many Austrian companies and organisations are actively working to promote gender equality and support women in their careers. These measures not only benefit the women concerned, but also strengthen the entire economy and society. Together, we are setting an example for equality and showing that diversity is the key to innovation and success.
